  • Mathematics is a tool that can in fact help us develop better, more accurate models of the universe. It won’t affect our individualism or determinism.

    The inflation theory has been supported by evidence, so there’s reason to believe it. Much of cosmology remains unsolved mysteries, so having a somewhat robust and widely accepted model can help.

    Earth is not the center. Each point, star, planet, and galaxy could be considered the center of the universe. There essentially is not a single center of the universe, since space is expanding relatively.

    It was cool to know about the sheer scale and origin of the universe. A lot of cosmology is theoretical and it’s interesting to study different theories and their implications.

    To me, LIGO is a revolutionary breakthrough/advancement in science. Gravitational waves are central to our understanding of the universe, and to have a piece of technology that can assist with detecting them is super cool. I think gravitational waves definitely earn a spot among the top scientific greatest discoveries ever.

    Change will occur, albeit maybe not rapidly. Funding does play a role in the status quo of science authorship since more funding probably means more involvement.

    Yes. Teaching is a great way to learn. It allows for us to correct our own understanding. In the words of Oppenheimer, “the best way to learn is to teach”.
