Mathematics is a tool that can in fact help us develop better, more accurate models of the universe. It won’t affect our individualism or determinism.
May 29, 2021 at 8:03 pmThe inflation theory has been supported by evidence, so there’s reason to believe it. Much of cosmology remains unsolved mysteries, so having a somewhat robust and widely accepted model can help.
May 27, 2021 at 10:48 pmEarth is not the center. Each point, star, planet, and galaxy could be considered the center of the universe. There essentially is not a single center of the universe, since space is expanding relatively.
May 27, 2021 at 10:40 pmThe simulations were helpful. Max Tegmark delivered the info in a very easy to understand fashion.
May 26, 2021 at 8:04 pmIt was cool to know about the sheer scale and origin of the universe. A lot of cosmology is theoretical and it’s interesting to study different theories and their implications.
May 21, 2021 at 10:54 pmTo me, LIGO is a revolutionary breakthrough/advancement in science. Gravitational waves are central to our understanding of the universe, and to have a piece of technology that can assist with detecting them is super cool. I think gravitational waves definitely earn a spot among the top scientific greatest discoveries ever.
May 21, 2021 at 10:48 pmLIGO has played such a huge role in the detection of gravitational waves.
May 21, 2021 at 10:44 pmChange will occur, albeit maybe not rapidly. Funding does play a role in the status quo of science authorship since more funding probably means more involvement.
May 21, 2021 at 10:25 pmYes. Teaching is a great way to learn. It allows for us to correct our own understanding. In the words of Oppenheimer, “the best way to learn is to teach”.
May 21, 2021 at 10:10 pmPretty interesting to know about gravitational waves. The math seemed a bit complicated but I could understand it at a high-level.
