The past and the future are equally as real as the fleeting precent what we class as the present itself may need reevaluating but it is clear that a far away observer looking at earth would see a completely different time to the one we are currently living in even if they were to be instantly transported there.
You can not it wouldn’t extend your life as in the years you count till your death implying you still count years in the same way we do now while on your near light speed journey. However you could traverse a larger portion of space then you would have travelled only experience the normal speeds on Earth so you could say you existed further along In time but that does not extend the amount of time you have actually lived for.
When a theory or discovery challenges the natural way in which us humans think I believe that may lend to its credibility. When I first came across the relativity of simultaneity i thought it to be accurate but not so astounding because I have long thought that time is experienced at different rates to each individual and may even differ for each person several times in the space of a day. It is important to remember we are made of matter that interacts with many different forces and particles therefore our complete make up is in a state of constant fluctuation.

I believe space must be an emergent property as it only exists at large scale’s likely as a byproduct of quantum strings. Similar to how waves are a property of the sea but do not exist in every individual atom that create the surface of water when separated. Time and space are one but time is not a constant And experienced at the same rate all over the universe and by every observer which I believe supports the idea that they are both emergent properties
LIGO will be yet another one of time our greatest inventions as a species. Tools have always served us and this is a tool which will enhance our sensory abilities and therefore our reality as it aids us as an eye capable of detecting gravitational waves and provides solid evidence supporting a theory that has seen a lack of supporting evidence for centuries.
Although funding may always play a role in scientific authorship in the near future it may hold a position of less significance . The key scientist at the head of any research should always be recognised and credited. I believe if changes are made to the way scientist author papers it will be to ensure everyone who makes significant contributions in a project is acknowledged although this is a more innate issue ,people tend to hold one person in mind when thinking or referring to research completed by a whole group.
