The sheer enormity of the cosmos is highlighted in this Master Class. Some thinkers believe this makes us minuscule in comparison. Is the human race insignificant in the grand scheme of things? Explain your answer.

July 8, 2019 at 4:57 pmThanks, Justin and Thor. Many Scholars mentioned the Art of Problem Solving in their application. Others should check it out if they are unfamiliar with it.

July 1, 2019 at 2:58 pmWhat direct evidence do we have that the Earth is spinning? After all, much as in the example from the lecture in which George and Gracie are floating in space, we don’t seem to feel the Earth’s motion. (Hint: Is the rising/setting of the sun convincing evidence? Have you ever encountered a Foucault Pendulum?)
June 28, 2019 at 2:29 pmImagine you are standing on a platform, waiting for your train to arrive (the same train that George happens to be on). In the distance, you notice a beautiful mountain with the silhouette of an isosceles triangle (after all, you’re traveling in Switzerland, where Einstein developed special relativity). George also sees this exquisitely symmetrical Alp from his train window. Do you and George agree on the slope of the sides of the mountain (i.e., the angle of inclination relative to the horizontal axis)? Why?
