1.19 Puzzle: Ants on a Meter Stick

Place all the ants as close to the center of the meter stick as possible, and tell them all to go in one direction. This will minimize the ants bouncing and changing direction.

It does not matter where you place the ants, or which direction they go, as the last one always falls off at the same time. So place them randomly, and tell them to go one way or the other.

Place one ant at the end of the meter stick, and have it move towards the other end of the meter stick. It does not matter where or which direction the others go.

Place all the ants evenly spaced along the meter stick, and assign alternating ants an alternating direction to go. This will keep them bouncing off each other and not falling off the meter stick.

Place all the ants in one group in the middle, and tell them to go in any direction. Starting in the center will keep them from falling off the end of the meter stick.
