1.2 Scaling and Sizes
  • There is great diversity in the shapes and sizes of brains of different species. 
  • Order and patterns can be found within the huge array of biological diversity. Scientists rely on repeating patterns amongst brains to draw comparisons. This is known as scaling: the regularities that happen as size varies. 
  • Proportions change with size and is the key to studying scaling. 
  • Patterns can also be used to make predictions.
