In this demonstration the user can adjust the properties of a planet, like mass and radius, as well as the velocity of a projectile launched from its surface. Set the variables and then click the Launch button to see the fate of the projectile. What are the properties of stars and planets that have high escape velocities? What kinds of stars and planets have small escape velocities? Which kind would a black hole be most similar to?
