Instructions
Use the simulator below to build networks. You can control the type of network (Random or Scale-free), and the number of nodes. In addition to generating the network per your conditions, the simulator also will give you measurements of the topological parameters of the network. Your goal is to determine how the initial conditions of the network affect these parameters.

1. How does changing the type of network change the degree distribution, as well as the average shortest path?
2. What do you think the model parameters “p” and “m” mean in the simulation and how do they affect the degree distribution?
3. Based on this, what type of networks might be favored by (a) biological systems and (b) technological systems? Explain your answers.
