In this demonstration, the yellow circle is a source that sends out flashes heading left and right at equal time intervals. Use the slider to choose the velocity of the source and press start. Notice how the flashes bunch up in the direction of the source’s motion and spread out in the direction opposite to its motion. Someone receiving the flashes on the right will thus get them at a faster rate than someone receiving them on the left.
