4.2 Current and Future Uses
summary
Future Particle Accelerators
- The International Linear Collider (ILC) is being considered in Japan. Should the Japanese government and physics community decide to take it on, it would not be finished until 2015.
- The Chinese are considering building a next-generation proton machine bigger than the Large Hadron Collider.
- We might be near the last generation of particle accelerators, but plasma beams have the potential to accelerate particles over short distances.
