I consider it possible to form an artificial consciousness without first having a deep understanding of our own inner workings. Turning to the discussion of human rights, what would be required to extend them to machines? Perhaps it would involve independent thought thinking not based on imposed rules or programmed directives. Furthermore, I would include the formation of an identity and a sense of self, a subjectivity that endures over time. Reflecting on this topic, it occurs to me that if we never manage to understand how consciousness works, we might have to determine who or what is conscious through inductive observation, much like we do with the person standing next to us. After all, just as with a machine, how do I actually know whether my parents are conscious or not?
