Snakes do not have ears that function like humans, they are completely deaf but can pick up vibrations. The sounds wave that travel through the air come into contact with the snake, this then transfers through the muscle until reaching the inner ear bone under the skull of the snake, this then is moved to the brain for processing what it is. Hence the mind or brain is where the computation happens and that what gives us perception. To dig further at consciousness we might need to derive levels of consciousness on different organisms and then relook at the problem of consciousness by assuming there is a higher consciousness which binds all of it together. May be the unknown higher consciousness is the constant we are looking for similar to speed of light. Can we we perceive speed of light? may be not yet, but we know that it exist.

I think CONSCIOUSNESS is total area of experience an organism can have in a limited lifetime.Also it varies from species to species. For example an ant CONSCIOUSNESS is fraction of human being CONSCIOUSNESS. Usually senses and brain work together to give rise to this conscious feeling and mind is continually analyzing memory and building all sorts of hypothesis.

I was astonished to observe the sea life and clean water in Maldives in Indian Ocean.The self sustaining model of Ocean life is quite impressive.I wonder if there was no land and only ocean how things would have evolved. Fish need the water so they can dissolve the oxygen to “breathe”, whereas humans need air (and the high oxygen concentration of the air) to inhale their oxygen content. In present it seems we humans are spoiling both water and air, which in turn can create a disbalance to all the species on earth.
