Actually, no. I am finding it hard to follow some of her findings and conclusions. The main thing that stymies me is that she says, in the last three videos, something that doesn’t quite settle her argument. Mainly that the number of neurons in the cortex is somehow related to “intelligence”. Using that premise, would that not make birds the top winner? Can some one please elaborate for me why this is or is not true? Do birds require more neurons to assist in navigation through the air, or remember where and when to migrate. Something is a bit off here in my opinion. Thanks for the course, as it is always interesting to hear the opinions of others on subjects that keep me curiously interested. Cheers!
January 16, 2021 at 8:15 pmThere seems to be much more about this subject that I seem to require to consider myself proficient when discussing it. This would be a good beginners course, but I find it lacking in information that actually explains why this viewpoint and research is valued. Surely the points made here are common knowledge to anyone who has more than 3 neuron encrusted folds . Thanks though, for the opportunity to listen to your perspective.
January 16, 2021 at 7:42 pmI can’t see how folding a piece of paper changes it’s original volume, it doesn’t loose or gain any molecules in the process, so just how does it change allowing more surface area. Am I looking at this too literally? I can see that it changes the shape, however not the surface volume…that would be a constant right?

January 16, 2021 at 6:23 pmSo, does the size or number of the neurons have anything to do with intelligence? Are there chemicals in our brain that interact with the neurons causing them to work more efficiently ? Does the size of these neurons reach a point of balance making one species able too have higher mental function than another?
January 16, 2021 at 5:50 pmI wonder why this, through evolution, has not reached the optimum performance point yet, say a 90 degree angle at 6.0 iteration and why aren’t life forms square to start with? It looks like the iterations would define the shape of the animal or other life form rather than the other way around…
January 16, 2021 at 5:36 pmOne would suppose body mass/ weight that a 3-d entity has would be constrained by the ability of the skeleton to grow and support it. Also by the ability of the organs to perform functions on a level that encourages or discourages proportionate growth. Perhaps the availability and richness of food sources would also be a limiting factor in the development of size constraints.

January 14, 2021 at 11:08 pmOh my, since I am still unfamiliar with the terms here, I find this to be a difficult question. Do we take into account quantum physics and particles, or, just what has been discussed herein so far? Would this apply to size of the universe, or perhaps the structure of a proton? I find myself unable to answer due to the emensity of the variables that could apply to it. I think my brain may be too smoothe and shiny to grasp the basic information I should be processing by this time. Can power laws be applied to everything, of course. Will they hold true to their function, I really cannot say… ????
January 14, 2021 at 10:43 pmI hadn’t been aware of the relationship of these subjects, now I am timing my urinary functions to see if I am up to the 20 second challenge… at close to 70 yo, I don’t know if I will make that requirement…
January 14, 2021 at 9:54 pmActually, I cannot view the video that we are to be discussing. Apparently I am doing something wrong, or missing the actuation of this particular video. Is there some simple step I am missing, as any action I take ( including trying to activate the play button, of course), takes me directly to this spot instead of the video I need to watch before I comment. Or is my brain simply smooth with no folds at all after just mod 1????
