  • Yes, Lucas is right where I am interested- using sounds from the protein library of building blocks can sound vibrationally ‘”suggest” proteins into a situation. The whole singer breaking the glass would suggest something of this nature. Although I am thinking of less dense material like our bodies. I would love to compose with sounds from the library- is that possible?

    The spider web harp is very interesting to listen to because it is so dense, also I can only listen to 3-5 minutes of this denser information. I think it would sound very weird to ears attuned to spider web music only to hear Cmaj style consonance! Also brings up the idea of language and information- Asian cultures have greater frequency richness and nuance in their languages than European languages –and some Asian cultural musics sound more dissonant to Western ears. What frequencies do we filter out/exclude?

    The Sine Wave is the building block and the harmonic content follows the Law of Octave, so there seems to be an organizational framework that modulates between consonance and dissonance. Like Brian, said the more information that is present the more sine waves beating in enharmonic frequencies=dissonance. Dissonance seems deep and full of information while consonance is more surface with lots of information filtered out. Some kind of basic necessary information only gets through.

    I wonder what role frequencies play (if any)in the tautness and placement of thread? Peter Witt at NCState did experiments about spiders recognizing the difference between prey hitting the web and a raindrop hitting it.
