The range of benefits is very broad, as it could encompass various aspects of the human organism. For instance, it might be possible to simulate any missing organ, though it may not fully perform its functions right away. However, with advancements, it could eventually meet those standards. Yet, we must always proceed cautiously and carefully consider the ethical and moral boundaries we’re crossing. As long as it’s used for patients in need and not for experiments, it would be in good use. I envision it being applied to neurological treatments, mental disorders, disabilities, especially communicative ones.

Clearly, we are social beings, much like cells or neurons; when isolated, we have no way of surviving. I like this analogy because it has been woven throughout this course, thanks to the meticulous study of the BMI by Miguel Nicolelis. His work allows us to delve deeper into the brains of both rats and monkeys, incorporating digitized systems in machines to analyze neural data. Will neuroscience one day be able to fully study the brain?

    ‘’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’
The question of whether machines can be conscious is our great mystery. As artificial intelligence advances, it is crucial that we stop to think about what it truly means to be conscious. This is not just a scientific issue; it deeply touches on ethical and philosophical aspects that affect us all as a society.
To consider an artificial intelligence as conscious, we need to look beyond simple programmed responses. Consciousness involves having subjective experiences, feeling emotions, and reflecting on oneself. Imagine an AI that not only follows orders but can also think about its actions and understand its place in the world.
    Integrated Information Theory

The Integrated Information Theory (IIT) suggests that consciousness arises when a system can integrate information coherently. This means that an AI should not only process data but do so in a way that all its parts are interconnected. If the AI cannot influence its own state or lacks an internal network that connects its experiences, it is unlikely to be truly conscious.

How should we treat it? If an AI can feel or experience something akin to consciousness, would it have rights? We need to reflect on the impact of our actions on these artificial entities.
    Understanding Our Own Consciousness
Furthermore, creating artificial consciousness without fully understanding our own consciousness could be a complicated path. We might end up developing systems that appear conscious but lack the emotional depth and experience that we humans have. This is similar to making a copy of something without understanding its essence.

The neural correlates of consciousness are the parts and activities of the brain that are directly connected to what we consciously perceive and feel. In other words, they are the mechanisms that allow us to have conscious experiences, like seeing an image or feeling an emotion.

Studying these correlates helps scientists understand which areas of the brain and types of brain activity are involved when we are aware of something. This research aims to understand how consciousness works in terms of specific brain processes.

It’s interesting to know that consciousness is not located in the thalamus of our brain. What draws my attention is the idea that consciousness might simply be the energy from which each individual’s perception develops, and that it could be situated in the thalamus. However, it goes beyond that. I should also pay attention to the receptors in our body, as I feel that it is the conjunction of both that creates consciousness.

Consciousness simply is, just as the ego simply is. I’m not saying they are the same, but their description is limited by the fact of just being. It is very complex to describe what is found from the unconscious side, as I feel that everything develops within consciousness. The waking state, or wakefulness, is nothing more than a consequence of our disordered unconsciousness, which we organize logically to achieve all of humanity’s milestones. However, all of this manifests externally and superficially, in a ‘seeing is believing’ paradigm. We have neglected our essence. Where does feeling fit into consciousness? Where is that beautiful union that, here, is of vital importance?

Simply feeling and stopping reasoning for a while allows us to connect with our freedom, essence, and spirit.

What I want to express is that our consciousness can never be fully defined, though we can approximate it. I believe that consciousness is more related to the energy that keeps us alive. The heart is closer to true consciousness than reason. From that balance, we can know ourselves and, consequently, understand part of it.

Through meditation, we enter an alpha state in our brain, a state that usually develops when we are close to sleep. Electroencephalocardiogram studies have explored the connection generated during meditation, and through it, we can communicate with the great consciousness that inhabits every being. If we truly wanted to understand consciousness, we would need to ask each human being for their perspective. Only then would we gain a more logical view of consciousness, which is precisely what scientists are so attached to.

In the end, this world is wonderful. The development of consciousness drives us to grow as individuals, towards a freedom where we can find our essence, where our Being resides.

Consciousness is something multidimensional, which cannot be fully defined or studied solely from a scientific perspective, but must also be explored through internal, emotional, and spiritual experience, in a journey toward self-knowledge and the freedom of being.

The awareness of what I can be sure of, arises with the “I am.” All our mental conditioning that forms in the waking state arises from the consciousness which, on one hand, follows the path of “I am.” Let’s then consider this period of wakefulness: consciousness would be completely linked to the EGO, which has neither a negative nor positive connotation but through which we have evolved to survive as a species. According to it, other factors have been born that make us human, such as emotions, feelings, thoughts, words, actions, habits, and even what we could call in this latter case: if I continue doing that habit over and over again, it will lead me to a certain place that can be called destiny.

But this gives us a glimpse of our 50% of what we are, since there is another 50% that we find in our unconscious, and what I personally like to call without conditioning. Along this path, we can find our being, balancing our conscious with unconscious to live pleasantly focused on the present moment. What does this mean? That we all have all emotions (some clearly won’t have them due to pathologies). The issue is how you interpret that emotion into feeling and make it endure or not, making it dominate your life, control it, or have a practice like meditation and manage it as you wish, enter what you want to enter and leave what you want to leave or maintain, because life happens here, not in the past or future.

So with this, I conclude since I could develop much on this topic. I trained as a meditation instructor to get to know my being, but just as theory is important, practice is even more so.

Greetings to all. Anyone who wishes to contact me to discuss this topic, I leave my social networks:
