i think space is emergent because only if it is emergent through quantum interaction with particles it can generate new outputs , formation or a change .. if it was fundamental then we wont be able to break down space ‘s particulate form and energy derivation to expand … but the quest and the fact of the emergent particle in space is still a mystery but if identified will surely connect string theory to general relativity and gravity

well it is not a compulsion that there should be a drastic overall change of the theory but it just encourages people to judiciously have a flexible state while viewing these theories as the fundamentals yet questioning themselves about the accuracy and their fallacies
