41.2 Relativistic Mass as a Function of Velocity
demonstration
demonstration

This demonstration shows how a particle’s relativistic mass increases as its velocity increases. Use the slider to choose the velocity of a particle whose rest mass has been set at 5 kg. Notice how quickly its relativistic mass increases at speeds greater than 0.8 $c$, soaring ever-higher as its speed approaches that of light.
